“A Season For Brooding is neat concept; it's based on two thugs tossing out opinions on good
moviemaking, which results in five other short horror films being incorporated into the movie. Packaging these
"micro-cinema" works into the movie allows it to serve as a sort of film festival in itself, in which multiple directors'
visions can be seen.” – Boise Weekly
Produced by Andrew Ellis and Will Schmeckpeper from a compilation of five short horror-comedies shot in Idaho over the
course of three years, A Season For Brooding stars T.J. Johnson, Tate S. McCullough, Lana Roberts, Lloyd Robeson,
Chad Rinn, Ian Taylor, Kyle Morris, James Van Dam, Nick Stewart S., Steven Merrill, and a host of other local actors.
Produced on a shoestring budget (in the "Under $1000” range), the film takes full advantage of public domain material,
creative commons music, and the generosity of all of the people involved. With creative visions by Gary Payton, Gavin
Johnson, Analisa Ravella (guest directors), Ellis and Schmeckpeper's A Season For Brooding is a romp through variations
of horror genre themes (look for zombies, comedy, psychological terror, demonic possession, and extremely disturbing
scatology.
A Season For Brooding is a great introduction to the dark underbelly of Boise’s filmmaking community
and is definitely NOT for the entire family. Consider yourself warned.
