GREEN IS THE COLOR OF MONEY
Ben Shedd

We are thrilled that Nampa-based documentarian (and Academy Award® winner) Ben Shedd will join us to present his work and
participate in a post-screening Q&A. His latest work is a case study of (and powerful argument for) High Performance sustainable
building, and Shedd examines why ‘building Green’ is a sound business strategy.
Boise developer Gary Christensen and his team designed and built the 11-story Banner Bank Building, one of the world’s most energy
efficient, high-performance buildings. Shedd’s film provides a comprehensive overview of the development of a green building for the
same cost as a standard construction.

THE FLIGHT OF THE GOSSAMER CONDOR
Ben Shedd
USA, 1977, 28 minutes, Documentary

Documentaries don't have to be feature-length to tell epic tales. 3 decades ago The Flight of the Gossamer
Condor won a richly deserved Academy Award® for its thrilling account of how the California inventor and scientist Paul B.
MacCready (who died earlier this year) built the first aircraft to fulfill the dream of human-powered flight. Yet the film’s
essential brilliance lies in the inventiveness of MacCready and his team, in their eagerness to learn from successive failures,
and in the broad-winged Condor itself, a thing of fragile beauty but a timeless monument to the man who made the dream
a reality. – Wall Street Journal |
